Starbroyd Projects

Some of the things Starbroyds have done are:

A ‘tin' drive for the Exodus Foundation at Ashfield last Christmas.  We asked everyone in our school to bring in tins of food that the Exodus Foundation could give to people to help them have a nicer Christmas.

A Mothers' Day Stall raised $225 for the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia.  Some families at our school have been affected by Breast Cancer and it was good to know that we were helping to raise money for this cause. For this year's Cancer Council Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, we held a cake stall and morning tea for our students and parents and we raised $924.50.  We asked everyone in our school to donate cakes and the Starbroyds ran the stall.

We have also been involved in Wrap with Love this year.  The Starbroyds asked the whole school to get involved and knit squares of yarn that could then be made into blankets that would go to people in need all around the world.  We had knitting classes at lunch times so that the students could learn how to knit and get involved.  Parent and grandparent volunteers gave their time to come and teach us how to knit and it was a really nice way to get to know other parents from our school.  Some of our families even had their grandparents in England knitting squares which were mailed to us to be included in our Starbroyd blankets! Even though we are a small school, we ended up with 224 squares that made 8 beautiful blankets. I really enjoyed being involved with Wrap with Love because I liked learning how to knit and it was nice to have a chat with people I don't always play with.  It was also good to talk with different parents and grandparents and listen to them talk about different things.
